Angers, Champagne Basket and Saint-Vallier continue

Angers, Châlons-Reims and Saint-Vallier were chained this Tuesday night in the second night of the Leaders Cup Pro B. In other meetings, Boulazac, Saint-Quentin and La Rochelle lost.

Group A (Saint-Quentin, Lille and Denain)

Saint-Quentin still couldn’t find the right fuel. Against Denain for their first game in the Leaders Cup, Julien Mahé’s men lost (83-87) against a good team from Denain who relied on their Johan Loftberg (24 points on 7/10 shots) . Next meeting against Lille for Saint-Quentin, who must win against Lille to stay alive in this group.

Group B (Orleans, Evreux and Angers)

Another win for Angers confirming its good start to the season. Against the Ebroïcien club, defending champion, the Angevins won by a short margin (81-85) and were able to rely on the good performance of Akaemji Williams (24 points). After the first success against Orléans, Angers is at the top of this group while OLB and ALM Evreux meet this Friday to try to relaunch.

Group C (Quimper, Nantes and La Rochelle)

Quimper bounced back against La Rochelle by winning (88-71). A strong victory was achieved due to the duo consisting of Antoine Wallez (17 points and 6 rebounds) and Ivan Vranes (17 points on 8/12 shooting and 4 rebounds allowed the Bretons to return to their group while the La Rochelle experienced a complicated first outing and will need to bounce back this week against Nantes.

Group D (Vichy, Boulazac and Saint-Chamond)

Vichy beat Boulazac (109-104) after extra time for Pierre Coulon. Led by a Trey Boyd in good form (36 points and 6 assists), Vichy kept Boulazac dry and balanced its record after its loss against Saint-Chamond on the first day. Boulazac will face Saint-Chamond this Friday and the victory will allow to attend the triptych between the three teams at 1-1.

Group E (Saint-Vallier, Antibes and Aix-Maurienne)

Saint-Vallier was also chained this Tuesday night against Antibes (71-66). Kentan Facey strengthened his team by signing a double double (14 points and 13 rebounds). After an opening win against Aix-Maurienne, SVBD is the leader of its group at the halfway point. Antibes will receive Aix-Maurienne on the third day.

Group F (Gries-Souffel, Elan Chalon and Champagne Basket)

In the end, Châlons-Reims did not fail in Alsace. Thomas Andrieux’s men won 77-64 against a Gries-Souffel formation weakened by injuries. Despite Strahinja Gavrilovic’s 27 points, Champagne Basket recorded a second consecutive victory and placed themselves at the top of the toughest group before entering the final round.
