The latter, who became the leader of his squad, decided to attack Arasaka: the largest security company in the world. This is the great entity responsible for his evil from the beginning. He has a weapon of mass destruction, a humanoid called Adam Smasher technological implants from head to toe. He mercilessly kills Rebecca and David, while the latter sacrifices himself to protect Lucy: his girlfriend and member of the group famous for his hacking skills. So he could not keep his promise to accompany her to the Moon. This is also the last scene of the anime, where we see Lucy alone on the Earth satellite.
