It hurts to watch. Tagged and vandalized, the former store indentation, located in front of the center commercial in Saint-Orens, in the municipality of Toulouseabandoned, two years after the courts’ validation of the extensive skimming plan of the Mulliez group company.
One of the 16 Alinéa stores will be closed in 2020
The Toulouse brand completely closed its doors in September 2020, shortly after the judgment given by the Marseille commercial court, which ended with a partial resumption of activity in‘Indentation, but with the bankruptcy filing of many of the group’s stores. Because if nine stores (including Blagnac) were saved, 16 more were condemned, including the one in Toulouse Saint-Orens, thus leading to the elimination of about 992 jobs.
The closure of this gem of decoration and furniture, a real economic driving force in the sector, is more yet another blow for the merchants of the shopping mall in Saint-Orens, where dozens of commercial cells are still empty.
Abandoned and vandalized at the entrance to Toulouse
Since that date, the former site of Alinéa has been vacated, and destroyed… They pale in comparison to this entrance to Toulouse. The facade is taggedwindow brokenand access to the store, which until now was blocked by wooden boards, forced.
Concrete blocks and barbed wire installed
Faced with these repeated acts of vandalism, the owner struck hard last week: from September 19 to 23, a lot of work was done on the site to prevent any access to the store.
In the parking lot, large concrete blocks installed to secure the site, and prevent access to caravans, the area is always ridden by travelers, as it happened in the summer of 2022.
Instead of gutted wooden palisade, the owner of the site erected a giant concrete block wall, but also to barbed wireto prevent the entry of squatters … “The shop is now completely closed”, argued Laurent de Sayvefounded the company Imocom Partners, owner of this place where the Mulliez group was a tenant until Alinéa filed for bankruptcy.
The former Alinéa will be divided into three commercial cells
The owner, who, according to our sources, encountered some marketing difficulties, plans to accelerate the redevelopment work in the coming months, for the delivery of the areas envisioned. “in the first half of 2024”, trust Laurent de Sayve which is currently fine-tuning a redevelopment plan for the site of many shopsinstead of Paragraph.
“The existing building will be restructured. Our goal is to divide it into three commercial units”.
If the structure of the current building is to be preserved, the Imocom boss particularly wants to redraw the site to allow future occupants to have “three separate entrances”, but common parking.
Home or personal equipment?
Despite the failures of many brands in the neighboring shopping mall, Laurent De Sayve wants to be confident in potential in this shopping area, where his company also owns many places (Action, Castorama, etc.), with the notable exception of the shopping center itself, owned by the investor Klépierre: “We are very satisfied with the place , where there was good attendance”.
The elected officials of the town hall of Toulouse, for their part, set a path with their counterparts in Saint-Orens: according to our information, they asked the owner without no food sign on this site, and it is invited to favor businesses of this kind Home equipment and of man.
In the meantime, if the decorative fresco that still announces the “new products” for spring / summer 2020 still adorns the facade, two years later, the former Alinéa surrounded by its new barbed wire seems similar. a detention center rather than a furniture store…
