Supplementary retirement pension: this amount that the elderly will receive in addition from November!

On August 18, the law to protect the purchasing power of the French published in the official journal. This text brings several increases, including a 4% increase in the basic retirement pension. For supplemental pensions, discussions are still ongoing. For Agirc-Arrco it started on September 13.

At the time of writing this article, debates are taking place between employers and unions. Anyway, we will be fixed on October 6, he said the journalist Julien Bigard. In addition, the latter was invited to the set of “19/20”, Thursday, September 22. The reporter gave us some clarifications about the increase. Here are the details.

Revaluation of supplementary pensions

Remember Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promise does not apply to supplemental pension. In addition, the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire stated this:

“It is up to the social partners to upgrade the supplemental pensions. We will increase the basic pension. »

As for the date, we already know thatno addition before the hour supplementary pensions this year.

“The social partners in charge of Agirc-Arrco, the additional pension for private sector employees, will remain on the planned schedule, giving an increase on November 1”, explained our partners from Parisian.

You should know that every year, the value of the supplemental pension is adjusted according to the rate of inflation in French territory. As usual, the payment revolution intervened in the month of November.

Further, discussions are already underway to determine the percentage of the revaluation. For the retirees of Agirc-Arrco, employers and unions have met since September 13.

The challenges of this upgrade

From a financial point of view, there is of course the advantage of earning more for increasing the purchasing power of retirees. On the other hand, there are many more. In fact, this revaluation also plays into the political plan of the State.

The 4% revaluation as basic pensions widen the imbalance between schemes. This revaluation benefits civil servants more than private pensioners. This is because of all the pensions that civil servants receive every month, 90% basic pensions.

However, for former private sector employees, it is represents only 70% or even 50% for executive employees. In this regard, Valérie Batigne, founder and president of Sapiendo, a company specializing in retirement, points to this favoritism.

Reported by our colleagues from Figaro, the latter said:

“The revaluations due to inflation remind us again of the differences in treatment between the schemes and the laws. It widens the gaps between the regimes with the obligation of financial balance and others. »

He added that this situation is creating “differences between French”. Fortunately, the revaluation of supplemental pensions not too long.

Debates are about percentages

First of all, let’s focus on that the 2019 national interprofessional agreement dictates the rules for the revaluation of supplementary pensions. This agreement specifies that the revaluation is done according to:

“Average annual salary of the nationals of the scheme estimated for the current year under a sustainability factor calculated so that, in practice, the value of the point service changes at least as much as the prices of consumers has nothing to do with tobacco, as long as the evolution of prices is not more than that of wages. »

This rule is considered, proposed by the technical and financial committee of Agirc-Arrco a revaluation of 4.8%. This number is not final. Additionally, many union leaders were quick to point out that in addition to last year’s stagnation, more help should be given to former private sector employees.

Pierre Roger of CFE-CGC said:

“We have to see how it is possible to slightly exceed the numbers announced while staying on the nails of the regime. »

On the same day, Michel Beaugas of Force Ouvrière added:

“Especially since last year, an effort has been requested by retirees. »

A few days ago, on the set of “19/20”a journalist give an explanation.

“The increase should reach 5%”

We already know that the revaluation of supplemental retirement pensions is effective from November. What we don’t know is the amount of the increase. According to journalist Julien Bigard, on the set of “19/20”Thursday 22 September:

“A priori, the increase should reach 5% and that is a good surprise, because it is almost the level of inflation. »

According to the figures published by INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), the level of inflation last month 5.9% for one year. Here is what we read on the INSEE website:

“In August 2022, consumer prices increased by 0.5% in a month and 5.9% in a year”

But, once again, the revaluation of 5% of additional retirement pensions just a guess, the official figures should be known on October 6, according to Julien Bigard.

An envelope of 4 billion euros for additional pensions

If we consider this 5% increase, the social partner Agirc-Arrco must be deducted from its reserve amount of 4 billion euros. Note that the company’s current reserves are estimated at 65 billion euros.

For example, a retiree who receives 2,000 euros in retirement pension, including 800 euros in basic pension and 1,200 euros in supplemental pension, will receive 60 euros more per month only with its counterpart.

If we add the revaluation of basic pensions, it gives a total of 92 euros according to journalist Julien Bigard:

“We must add the increase in the basic scheme that has benefited all retirees since September: for him, it is 32 euros per month. So if we add the two revaluations, his pension will increase by 92 euros. »

The coming of the end of these times of crisis is always welcome. As for the details, one thing is for sure, let’s fix it in November.
