In the city of Izium, released by the Ukrainian army

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled on Wednesday to Izioum, a strategic city recaptured in the Kharkiv region (east), a first visit to the territories taken from the Russians this month during a surprising counter-offensive. Ukraine announced that it has taken back several thousand square kilometers in the East and South from the Russians, who occupied these territories after the invasion launched on February 24.     On the side of the roads, the remains of Russian military vehicles identified by the letter Z, a symbol of the invading forces, can be seen by the dozens.

    By recapturing this key city on the road between Kharkiv and the Donbass over the weekend, the Ukrainians weakened Russia’s grip on the part of this industrial basin still controlled by Kyiv.
