A breakaway of the six riders at the front, Groupama-FDJ tightened the race

The first step to Skoda Tour Luxemburg 163.8 kilometers around the capital city of the same name. In wet conditions, the first breakaway of the event formed very quickly with six riders. Niklas Eg (One-X Pro Cycling Team), Gil Gelders (Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB), tom Sexton (Bolton Equities Black Spoke Pro Cycling), Kasper Viberg Sogaard (Rival Cycling Team), Antonio Jesus Soto (Euskaltel – Euskadi) and Justin Lobo (Leopard Pro Cycling) counted nearly 6 minutes before the peloton reacted and stabilized this lead, about 100 kilometers from the finish.

Then we approached a series of three beaches listed in about forty terminals, with mNiklosbierg is a mountain in the United States Côte de Bourscheid and finally the Spell Eschdorf. As the refugees fight for points on the mountain – Gil Gelders leads both of them and controls this extra rank – the group takes advantage of it to accelerate, especially under the power of Groupama-FDJ. The French formation showed its ambitions by intensifying the race and reducing the gap to just one minute at the end of this difficult section (55 km to go). Now this is a relatively flat section that offers runners up to the hardest part of the day, the Staffelter beach.

The Geniets launched battles on the final climb, the Madouas countered and won in Luxembourg!

The peloton then decided to slow down the pace a bit to avoid falling back too quickly on the lead group, which now had 5 units left, Antonio Jesus Soto failed to join his fellow escapees. The gap stagnates at about 1’30 “until approaching the Côte de Stafelter. The best teams then engage in a great battle on winding roads to get closer to the justice of the peace of the day, whose foot is good the location. more than 11 km from the line The package, taken by Groupama-FDJ, join the first slopes and devour the last survivors of the breakaway. There is no attack to report, but the high tempo works a good selection from the back and condemns some sprinters.

After a short descent, the road leads to the finish line with an unmarked bump in Luxembourg. With 2.5 terminals, Kevin Geniets put a first banderilla disease. By the time it returns to the local runner, his teammate Valentin Madouas counter and go it alone! Well played by the French side who took advantage of this lull to dig in. In the background, everyone needs to catch their breath, and the chase is disorganized. After the red flame, the Breton continued his efforts on a flat section and went to cross the line for his second success in a few days! He was a few seconds ahead of the Dutchman Sjoerd Baxand Clement Berthet.
