The new season 5 of “Good Doctor” arrives this Wednesday night on TF1. On this occasion, find out what awaits Doctor Shaun Murphy, his girlfriend Léa and the other doctors of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in these new episodes.

From this Wednesday, August 31 at 9:10 p.m., TF1 broadcasts a new unreleased season of The Good Doctor, which continues to tell the adventures of doctor Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome in San José St. Bonaventure.

Season 4 of the series ended last November on the channel with many significant events: the marriage proposal of Léa (Paige Spara) to Shaun, the formalization of the couple Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) and Alex (Will Yun Lee), and the unexpected departure of Doctor Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas), who decided to stay in Guatemala after a humanitarian mission.

On the occasion of the launch of season 5 of TF1, find out what awaits you in the next episodes of The Good Doctor.

NEW DIRECTOR OF ST BONAVENTURE HOSPITAL

A big change awaits at St Bonaventure Hospital! The medical establishment is bought by Salen Morrison (Rachel Bay Jones) who makes a notable appearance by posing as a patient. He will also make a number of changes soon after taking office – much to the chagrin of doctors – in an effort to increase revenue.

The death of a child, the real reason that Morrison’s company tries to hide, can quickly become the last straw for the doctors at the hospital. Because of this, Dr. Lim (Christina Chang) will start a crusade against the new director who, in return, will not hesitate to demote her from her position as chief of surgery.

The beginning of a war between Salen Morrison and the hospital staff will not stop there…

SHAUN AND LÉA’S WEDDING PREPARATIONS

At the same time, preparations for their wedding make life difficult for Shaun and Léa. The young woman will put a lot of pressure on her shoulders to prepare for their engagement party. So Shaun will offer to prepare the wedding in equal parts so that everything goes as smoothly as possible.

However, compiling the guest list the couple will soon face new problems. Shaun really wants to invite his mother to their wedding, but Léa doesn’t think it’s a good idea since they haven’t seen each other since her father’s death and their stormy reunion.

In the hospital, things are not so easy for Shaun in the first episodes of season 5. The new director decides to set up a rating system for doctors and puts the doctor Murphy in the final position, through the basis of patient feedback. Because Shaun was so moved by this news, his girlfriend changed the other announcements through the computer to add to her future husband’s “newsletter”. A maneuver that displeases Murphy who thus calls into question their relationship.

Will the situation improve before the two lovebirds’ big day?

THE RETURN OF THE FORMER CHARACTER

After her departure from the series in the last episode of season 4, Doctor Claire Browne makes an emotional return to the Good Doctor! In fact, the young woman appeared from episode 16, when she surprised Léa and Shaun during their bachelor and bachelorette parties.

Claire makes a spectacular entrance as she sings “I will miss you” by Faith Evans and Puff Daddy, a very powerful message for those he left behind for a few months. And he will not return empty-handed from Guatemala, bringing with him a young patient suffering from brain cancer.

ULTIMATELY HIGH TENSION

As usual, the Good Doctor will once again offer us a season finale full of twists and turns.

In fact, two characters find themselves between life and death after being stabbed. Who is it? And can we expect to say goodbye to the new members of the main cast of the series?

To find out, you will have to wait until season 6, which has already been ordered by the American channel ABC. But it is not due to be broadcast on TF1 before the fall of 2023.

Find the Good Doctor on Wednesday night at 9:10 pm on TF1 and the replay on Salto. The entire first four seasons are available on Salto, Prime Video and Netflix.
