The love for Simca brand cars comes from the father, Thierry; a virus that he passed on to his three sons, including Florian (our photo) and who will give birth in a private museum, in Bonnétable (in the Sarthe). ©Carine ROBINAULT

In Lhuissier, the Simca, it’s a family affair. And soon a museum dedicated to the brand of cars, whose opening is expected for 2023, in Bonnetable (Sarthe).

Florian, 31, Jonathan, 29 and Baptiste, 23, were all bitten by the virus transmitted by their father, Thierry, 57. He himself was contaminated by his ancestor. “My father has a Simca. I watched the smell, the noise, the acceleration Simcas. He didn’t like long courses, but he drove,” he recalled.

“The pram won’t fit” in the Simca

His first Simca? It was a 1307 S. “My grandfather advanced me the money because I didn’t have a car to go to work. Thierry is 20 years old. And struts proud of his Adriatic green metallic racing carwith black velvet interior…

But the love of youth drives him to buy a Golf GTI… Before Simca’s love catches up with him. “I bought my father-in-law’s old car, a Simca 1308 GT. “A true joy. That he will turn his back on when he becomes a father… “The pram wouldn’t fit,” he laughed.

He accompanied driving a Simca

One thing led to another, together with his wife Nadine, they found Simca. Thierry waited until 2005 to get an automatic 1501 from 1967. Then a 1301 from the same year. The man placed there the milestones of his future collection… And infected his descendants on the way.

Florian remembers well that he spent his time driving the special 1100 in 1973: “4000 km. We did tourist rallies, with mom as co-pilot. Since we were children, together with my brothers, it has been in our hearts. Not the driving, that’s pretending, but the driving”.

“Like their father, the three brothers are interested in cars in general. But especially for the elderly. And above all in Simca”, continued the eldest brother.

Like any collector, it is not a virus, but a disease. We see one, we crack, then another… We deprive ourselves of fun to devote ourselves to these vehicles, but also to posters, decorations, plaques.

They made the friendly “Simca Passion”

In the closets, in the attic of the living house, everywhere, the items associated with the brand accumulate. Even gathered. Thierry is the sole owner 28 cars, as many as Florian and a dozen for Jonathan. Baptiste doesn’t have one, but the truck mechanic student is a great support to his father in revving up the family’s various models.

So in the courtyard of the family home, in Lombron (Sarthe), the idea of creating an Amicale began. This is the birth of Simca love “.
