Game news A cult JRPG, the return of Digimon… The Nintendo Switch release of the week

It’s a new week starting and the least we can say is that it promises to be very busy on the Nintendo Switch. Between the arrival of the highly anticipated Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the return of the historic Pokémon competitor and a bed and breakfast version of Animal Crossing, there is something for everyone.

Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3

Six years after the release of Azure Striker GUNVOLT II, the Gunvolt series returns to center stage with the third installment. You have to be very alert to use the weapons and follow the flow of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3. Like its predecessors, this opus offers “ultra-fast” action through various 2D tables and, above all, is filled with enemies to defeat. When you meet Gunvolt, the protagonist of the series, he will not be alone. Kirin, his new star, accompanies him. As you can imagine, it is possible to switch from one to another in the middle of combat to take advantage of their different abilities that offer two different games. Because if Gunvolt is a fan of lightning bolts and other superpowers, Kirin masters fencing like no other. Suffice it to say that this new opus promises to be more exciting than ever.

When he came across an abandoned hut with his friends he decided to start this adventure. Change, adaptation and other improvements… We must not skimp on ways to do this bed and breakfast friendly and helpful. Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony

You will get a small remaster. Sure, Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony doesn’t have the same aura as Live A Live (whose remaster was released last week), but the release of its remaster more than 10 years after its initial release is still a rare event that will make some happy. It was in 2009 that Frontier Aja decided to reveal itself to us this Castlevania-style action-adventure game inspired by the Touhou Project universe. Today, CFK is the leader in offering us a better version with, in particular, HD graphics. As a reminder, in Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony you play as Reimu Hakurei in the small town of Gensokyo. The latter has suffered strange events recently and has seen the noxious “Red Mist” spread through its streets. Your mission? Find the source of the evil and fight it to save Gensokyo.

Digimon Survive

In 1997, a small electronic gadget landed on the market. It allows you to raise and fight small animals, and not just any: Digimon. Thus launched the franchise that is considered sometimes as a rival sometimes as a younger sister of Nintendo, Pokémon. Then there are anime, merchandise and a good shovel of video games that have managed to find a specific audience. If we do the math, this Digimon empire took its first steps 25 years ago. A quarter of a century is worth celebrating and the celebration will take place this week with the release of the Digimon Survive. In the program: turn-based combat, typical movements of a tactical-RPG, a hundred Digimon in search and, above all, a darker and more mature subject. Note that the last two games in the franchise, Digimon Linkz and Digimon ReArise, were released three years ago in Europe, only on mobiles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

We conclude this week’s Nintendo Switch releases with one of the Big N’s behemoths for this year 2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Announced during a Nintendo Direct at the beginning of the year, the new opus of this legendary series in the world of JRPGs has sparked great enthusiasm. And after getting our hands on the game for a few hours, our interest grew. As part of our preview, we actually discovered a darker story, more dynamic gameplay and a great adventure to survive. Even the show’s disappointing resolution wasn’t enough to dampen our enjoyment. It remains to be seen what will happen throughout the game. As a reminder, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 plunges us into the world of Aionios, torn apart by the war between Keves and Agnus, two very different nations. In this context Noah and his companions Lanz and Eunie will live an experience that will turn their fate.
