This Thursday, July 21, 2022, Faustine Bollaert will be at the helm of the France 2 program, “Un flirt & une danse”. Another show with the theme of love for the protagonist who is a public service presenter, who himself is facing great grief due to the loss of the one he loves so much…among other things.
Faustine Bollaert has been shining on France Télévisions for several years now. Every day, at the controls of his show “It starts today”, the presenter makes us discover the stories of life like no other, with humor, kindness and sensitivity. On the private side, the mother of Abbie and Peter, the fruit of her love for the writer Maxime Chattam, experienced personal dramas that made her laugh and optimistic attitude. But it is not easy to build oneself in the midst of a series of bereavements…

Faustine Bollaert experienced tragedies at a very young age
If Faustine Bollaert now finds a beautiful sentimental balance in the arm of her husband, with whom she has a love for horror stories, she, younger, experienced the worst: the loss of her first girlfriend Usually very careful about her intimate sadness, Faustine Bollaert indulged in some confidences in 2019, on the set of Michel Cymes’ show “It doesn’t come out here”. “I also lost my boyfriend because of a motorcycle accident, when I had…” he began, suddenly overwhelmed with emotion. And to continue, more precisely: “This is the first time I spoke about it, I was not 18 years old. This was my first great love.
A painful time for the young Faustine Bollaert who, at that time, was already struggling to recover from two other losses. First on his childhood best friend: “I was less than 10 years old when I lost my best friend. I spent the morning waiting for him to come and sit next to me, class. He was there the other day… That day, he did not come. And all the days later, his place will remain empty. Then, that of his maternal grandmother: “He died in my arms. It doesn’t matter, it happens to everyone in reality. But I have a summary of the mourning of youth, which makes me have a very special relationship with death, it interests me, it fascinates me, it does not scare me, but it is a topic that comes up when -well in my life.”
Behind this smile of communication that she tries to maintain every week in the public service, Faustine Bollaert hides pain. And then there were other dramas, which happened before he was born, but never left his mind…
“Suddenly, nobody, nothing”
In 2021, in the columns of Gala magazine, the host returned to the loss of his paternal grandmother without his knowledge. “He is one of the great mysteries of my life,” she sobbed. A grandmother who tragically died in 1974, along with Faustine Bollaert’s aunt and uncle, in a plane crash. If the householder was born five years after the tragedy, the memory of the deceased focuses on his childhood. “I was always curious about him because my father told me that I looked like him. He was very funny, beat up and loved others very much”. Traits of character that she seems to have inherited: “When I asked my parents about this grandmother, I had the impression that I had left a lot from her. Not meeting her is one of the biggest regrets of my life.”
Video. Faustine Bollaert in full sadness: the host once again faces a death
On the set of Michel Cymes, Faustine Bollaert returns to her youth enameled with mourning and sadness. It is not easy to rebuild after the loss of so many loved ones. “Suddenly, no one, nothing. I’m not complaining: everyone has to go through mourning. Simply, mine happened to me at a young age, at a time when the personality is basically created.” From these dramas, Faustine Bollaert was able to take lessons, painful of course, but it helps her now to think of life in a different way: “Losing, all night, I know. permanent fear of losing the you love… And an urgency to live (…) I don’t have time to do everything, so I prefer to go to the essentials and extraordinary. I need love.”
Love, the essential, the extraordinary, Faustine Bollaert continues to discover it every day through the stories of those who come to testify to “It starts today”. A great way to cheat death.
